Leaf Watercolor Art Project

Get ready for a super-easy fall watercolor art project! This is perfect for all ages and always turns out well!
The fun thing about this project is that it has two parts. Gathering the leaves is part of the fun, and then the actual painting.
Step one is to go out and gather some colorful fall leaves. Make sure that the leaves are still soft. Avoid the really dried, crunchy leaves.
Now that you have your leaves, we will start the painting part of the project.
Leaf Watercolor Project Supplies:
- Watercolor paper
- Watercolor paint
- Pencil
- Paint brush
- Fall Leaves
- Water in a cup
- Paper towels

After you have gathered your leaves, pick 3 to 5 that you really like to use on your project.
Lay the leaves on your watercolor paper and trace each leaf with the pencil.
Now you can paint the leaf with the watercolor paint and stamp the leaf onto your watercolor paper.

The design is up to you! Get creative with your stamping.
I suggest having an odd number of leaves on your paper. So, three leaf designs or five always look good. This can depend on how large your paper is and how many can fit.
The leaves can also stick off the paper too!

After you have stamped the leaves, it’s time to get creative. Fill in around the leaf designs with more watercolor paint. Outline the leaf designs, flick paint on the paper, and do whatever you think will look good.

The good thing about this project is that you can make it your own. There is no wrong way to do this.

Pro Painting Tips:
You are going to want the paint to be kinda thicker when covering the leaves with paint. So don’t use too much water. If you use too much water, make sure to have your paper towels ready.
If you accidentally make the paint too thin, it’s ok. Pat the paper with the towel, wait for it to dry, and then try again.
The good thing is that layers of paint make the painting look even better.
This project is great for all ages! But of course, with the supervision of an adult.
When you are done painting, lay your art flat until it dries completely to avoid drips.
