2 – Dying Easter Eggs

dye easter eggs

It is easy to dye eggs for Easter. My mom and I did this every year when I was growing up, and I love passing this tradition on to my kids.

To dye Easter eggs, you will need hot water, vinegar and food coloring and hard boiled eggs.
Start by boiling your eggs and letting them cool completely.
I prefer to use plastic disposable cups or glass cups for this project. You will need a different cup for each color.
Now add about a 1 1/2 cups of hot water to your cup and one teaspoon of vinegar. Stir together!
Then add 2 drops of food coloring to your cup.  If you want your eggs to be bold, you can add 3 or more drops of food coloring.

Carefully add your boiled egg to the water using a large spoon or tongs. Let the eggs sit in the water for at least 5 minutes. The longer they sit the deeper the color will be.
When you are happy with the color remove your eggs and put them on a paper towel to dry. Be careful that they aren’t set on something that could get stained.

6 – Constructing Easter Egg Trees

Constructing an Easter egg tree is another easy craft that your family can create together. Start by finding some branches outside. This will become your “tree”. Kids love to decorate the branch using pastel paint colors or glitter for a natural look you can leave the branch as you found it.

Put the branch or branched into a large vase or plant pot, anything that will keep it standing up straight.

Next, create colorful eggs using craft foam, paper, or plastic. Each egg can be adorned with markers, paint, or even sequins. The eggs are then hung on the branch using string or ribbon, creating a fun homemade center piece.

This craft not only adds a decorative touch to your home but it’s a fun project to do on Easter with your friends and family.

7 – Easter Egg Hunt Adventures

Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt is a classic tradition that kids look forward to each year. The thrill of finding hidden eggs filled with treats or surprises brings excitement to the day. To elevate the experience, he or she can incorporate various themes, like a color-coded hunt where specific colors correspond to different prizes.

We like to assign a certain color to each kid.  So let’s say your color is blue you will only find the blue eggs. This helps to keep kids from fighting or having all the older kids get all the eggs before the little ones.

It can be set up in the backyard, living room, or local park. Adding clues or riddles helps create a treasure hunt feel. For younger children, placing eggs in visible spots ensures they can participate fully.

Fill it with a base material like dried white beans or pom poms. This provides a rich texture. Add in themed items such as plastic eggs, bunny figurines, and colorful toys.

Children can enjoy scooping, pouring, and sorting various materials. Kids can practice counting and matching by placing mini carrots or eggs in the sensory bin.

This activity fosters creativity and sensory development while keeping them busy for a long time.

11 – Planting Flowers With Kids

Johnny Jump Up

Planting flowers during Easter symbolizes new life and the arrival of spring. There are so many great flowers to choose from, such as daffodils, tulips, or pansies.

Begin by selecting a small area in the garden or using pots if space is limited. My kids love to prepare the soil, plant seeds, and water them. This hands-on experience teaches kids about nature and responsibility.

A fun activity for the whole family is creating flower markers using painted stones or popsicle sticks. We love watching our flowers grow throughout the season!
